Hello: tunes here ...
I was watching a WWII program just now. And I heard a specific piece of Aviation History that had a name attached to it.
I unknowing of the man, decided to use one of the gifts of the age we live in.
I Goggled it for a Wikipedia entry.
In seconds there it was. A short descript page that told me an outline of a mans life and achievements.
If you like me, see and hear something like I did.
Make a post here. So we all can make new discoveries of this "thing" we like do. _________________ tunes The Pilots and Officers of the LCA.

I have so many websites and aritcles that it would take me days to put together and post here. I was just unsure of how many folks would be interested in it and was trying to weight the work vs reward aspect of it. Hell if I would of know you liked this stuff tunes, I would of started posting it three years ago. For me the history of it is makes the game 100 times more imersive and interesting. Prepare for reading material......... _________________ HighTone

Here you all go, I hope someone enjoys it.....
http://ww2pacific.com/ww2.html - A great link to numerous articles about WW2 in the Pacific in the early years. Not only about planes, but battles, ships, orders of battle, side stories.
http://www.398th.org/Missions/Missions_Listing.html - a absolutely fantastic website about the 398th BG in Europe. Including a complete break down of every mission they ran, including crew reports, enemy contacts, loss and damage assessments. A must and very enjoyable read for any BOMBER pilot.
http://yarchive.net/mil/p38.html - a great copy of a blog that was done in 1999. Some serious aviation buffs posted on it. Some good insight, and some not often explored aspects of the P-38, including a great reason, albeit hypothetical, why the P-38 was never fitted with the Merlin engine or paddle props.
http://www.chuckhawks.com/index3.naval_military_history.htm - A link to Chuck Hawks webpage. Has his personal write ups on a bunch of planes, not as deep as some websites but I give it to him, he covers a lot of material. Lots of reading time on this site.
http://artkramer.blackapplehost.com/ - Art Kramers site about a B-26 and its crew, dozens of stories about their missions over Europe. Art does a great job, his sites are just tops. I would say another must read for bomber pilots.
http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/CannonMGs.htm - This is a great website as well, I have posted it before but no one read it. It has a complete break down of every aircraft gun from WW2. Axis and Allies alike. It has everything from muzzle velocities to total gun weight. On the bottom of the web page is says "click here for more info on WW2 aircraft guns" Pictures of the guns and shells they fire. Awesome. I refer to this site a lot. A must read for all pilots.
http://www.506thfightergroup.org/index.asp - A great website to the 506th FG. They operated the VLR (very long range) P-51 Mustangs out of Iwo Jima to escort B-29's. A great read for American aviation buffs or Mustang pilots. Big thumbs up. I just saw that are having their 2011 reunion in Austin Texas this year….humm I might make that one.
http://www.acesofww2.com/ - Possibly the best website ever and my personal favorite. It’s a (almost) complete list of all WW2 fighter aces from All countries, with info on the ones that are available. If you’re a WW2 air war buff, then you will find yourself wondering through this website for hours and hours.
http://www.j-aircraft.com/ - Here is a great website about strictly Japanese aircraft. Generally considered one of the best on the subject, mainly because of the owner Jim. Tainan Kokutai pilots enjoy.
http://japaneseaircraft.devhub.com/blog/category/fighter/ - Another great Japanese aircraft website.
http://www.aerothentic.com/historical/ARTICLES_INDEX.HTM - a good website about the south pacific air war. Many stories and research papers. Some really good reads in here.
http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/ - Here is a website that posts results from actual WW2 aircraft test. It includes every detail about a test to make it accurate. Great read for the "Real" performance of most of the aircraft we enjoy flying. _________________ HighTone
