Figured I'd share these,
Some low passes and formation with a friend and his MA-5 Charger. It was pretty bumpy down low that day, I had to work for that last landing, got squirley, lol, the control surfaces are just moving all over.
Rented a Piper Warrior II from the flight school and dad took his Super Cub up, and I did a bit of "cloud surfing" and flew some formation. It's always a cool feeling having pops on my wing. Looks like a different world up there.
Gotta thank the ol' pops for letting me fly his Cub. We've spent many hours "slipping the surly bonds" in the Cub since I was about 6. It's a '54, militarized version of the Super Cub (L-21B), with an O-290D2 135 HP engine, it served in the Italian Army in the mid 50's to early 70's as a pilot trainer / artillery spotter. Not the fastest thing in the sky (cruise at about 100 MPH) but it's a lot of fun, pure flying!

I spent four years as a C130 Loadmaster. I made the decision to leave flying to help my ailing father who soon passed after I returned home. to this day I often find myself looking to sky's when I hear the distinct sound of props cutting the air, and long to be slipping through the clouds.
My father told me years ago, that once you get air under your seat and static in your ears, youre hooked. That is just one of many thing my Dad was right about. Charish the special moments you have with your family.
What I wouldn't to to kick the tires and light the fires again. _________________ PD37

Flying is something ive always loved and wanted to do but never had the means for it. Its always fun to watch a video from a cockpit and try to imagin that im there but im sure it will never be like being there for real. The sad thing is that as much as i love planes i have only been in one once and i was to young to remeber. hopfully one day i will be able to get a licences to fly and be able to look at the world in a different way. cobra and nice videos

I had taken my third or fourth flying lesson just before 9/11... Then there were so many restrictions I could not continue at any of the local airfields as they were too close to Boston... Really hoping to get back to it someday...
Very cool vids. Cobra...
Thanks guys. It certainly is a lot of fun and something that's in my blood.
I always get a kick out of taking people up to show them what it's all about. I wish it was free and everyone could try it out, sucks that it's so expensive - and I certainly wouldn't be able to pursue it without the help of my dad. I really owe him.
PD you're here in Ga. and Martin up in NC, - could come pick ya up for a flight

Would be cool... How many does the SUper Cub Seat. I know my boys would like it as well (16 and 15) They did the young eagles intro flights and we couldn't get the smile off their faces for a week!
Whats the fuel cost up to now anyways? _________________ PD37

It's the standard tandem seating front/back so just 2. The Young Eagles program is great, have read about it in the flying mags and seen them at airshows - very cool for kids interested in aviation - bet they had a blast!
Fuel is about $4.90 at the little airport we fly out of - so not terrible - holds 36 gallons, burns about ~8 gallons an hour at cruise speed / low alt - can throttle back and "Cub" around at about 70 mph with the side doors open for some fuel savings, heh.
