[MoM] Briefing

[MoM] LogoWelcome to the home page for monthly Rook 'Mother of all Missions [MoM]' Joint Operations. Please take a minute or two to review this page and learn what these missions are all about and how they work. I'm confident that once you do, you will want to be a part of these collective strikes into enemy territory!

Objectives

The goal of 'Mother of all Missions [MoM]' is to combinine the forces of multiple squadrons and unaffiliated pilots into an organized, cooperative strike force of such momentous size that they become legendary. Rook 'Mother of all Missions [MoM]' Joint Operations are intended to make an indelible impression in the game. They are designed to be noticed, marveled at...and feared.

In addition to their sheer impact, it is further hoped that the camaraderie and cooperative spirit generated through these missions will foster an increase in squadron teamwork and promote a sense of kinship among ROOK squadrons.

Ultimately however, these missions are about having a ton of fun by varying the Aces High experience once a month for a dramatic change of pace. Join a Rook 'Mother of all Missions [MoM]' Joint Operation and invigorate your squad!

Registration

Interested ROOK squadrons must register their desire to participate using the [MoM] Registration Form. This is so we can estimate the scale of our operations and identify the squadrons that are likely to participate. Registration is not a committment however. Registration places you on an Alert Directory mailing list so that you can be informed of upcoming monthly [MoM] missions.

This directory also serves as a basis for planning combat operations. Please note that we assume all registered squads will be participating in [MoM] missions and design our plan of attack accordingly. If squadrons can't attend, all we ask is that you notify us so we can revise our order of battle for the upcoming operation.

Registrants are also encouraged to register on the forum so they can participate in mission profile and design discussions. Mission debriefings and other discussions will also occur using the forum. The forum will be an important tool when organizing our respective squads, planning missions and improving the 'fun factor' of these operations.

Unregistering

Squadrons who no longer wish to participate in monthly Rook 'Mother of all Missions [MoM]' Joint Operations should contact 96Delta and ask that their squadron be dropped from the Alert Directory. This can easily be done using the V-mail Form.

Command and Control
Squadron Commanding Officers retain command and control of their squadrons at all times. During operations, each squadron is assigned to a GROUP and is given a mission. There is an assigned Group Commander whose instructions each squadron commander is expected to follow. Squadron commanders are expected to work cooperatively to accomplish the Group's mission.

Mission Planning
Because of the nature of the arenas, it is difficult to determine launch bases, targets and other factors before the launch date. Consequently, missions are preplanned only in the most general terms. For the most part, this consists of determining the available forces, assigning them to Fighter and Bomber Wings (as necessary for the mission profile) and then scheduling the event.

The final determination of launch bases and tactical objectives is determined cooperatively by squadron commanders in concert with the [MoM] Coordinator on the mission date.

[MoM] mission profiles will be varied to keep the [MoM] concept interesting, fresh and exciting. For example, missions may consist of a strategic bombing mission one month, NOE Tiffie raid the next, JABO sortie, IL-2's with Yak escort, etc.

How it Works

A mission profile is determined based on input received from participating squadron commanders. Ideally, this will be done through forum discussions among squadron commanders.

Once all this has been determined, an 'Activation Order' with mission details will be transmitted to registered squads through email.

On the day of battle, Group Commanders will meet in the Titanic Tuesday arena 1 hour (T-60) before launch time and tune to the same VOX frequency. There they will cooperatively determine the mission's final particulars based on the tactical situation present. If these conditions preclude the execution of our preplanned mission profile, a new one will be jointly determined and launched.

These missions have the potential to be very big and extremely difficult to manage. Therefore, patience and mutual cooperation are absolute requirements for success.

Mission Editor
Posted [MoM] MissionsAt T-30 the various constituent missions will be entered into the Mission Editor and the ROOK community invited to participate. VOX information will be entered into the Mission description to aid in organizing each group.

Date & Time

[MoM] Missions are always scheduled for a 'Titanic' Tuesday evening. This is to insure that all pilots assigned to participate are able to enter the arena without difficulty and to help moderate the unpredictable effects of ENY.

Mission launch date will be provided when the activation order is transmitted: 24-96 hours before the mission date. Mission launch time will typically be 2030hrs EST.

Squadron personnel should report for duty no later than T-20. Missions will launch promptly. There will be no delays for any reason but the most extreme.

Well thats about it for now guys. If you think participating in something like this will add a little spice back into your Aces High II experience, then please register today!
